Sometimes you might not be sure where you’re headed or even where you are! Even as a leader you might lack assurance and clarity.

A coach can serve as a missional navigator to help individuals, teams and organizations navigate their way forward.

Journeys are as unique as the individuals living them. And life complicates as others join us and intersect pour lives. Sometimes it gets complicated.

Life is a trip!

And people lose their way. Or feel that they’re walking in a fog.

Often people have problems setting the destination for their lives. Coaching helps you come out of the fog, get your head on straight, get new vision and move on in the journey! .

A coach helps set and redefine the destination by asking powerful questions and re-framing ideas that help the person being coached evaluate their own dreams and aspirations.

Maybe it’s time you got in touch with us at Eikon Associates. Let us help you navigate your journey.

Life is a trip! And remember, a little help never hurts!

When we think about fulfillment in relation to our work. there are three ways most people approach their employment:

as a job, a career or a calling.

What’s a job? Well, you do it for the money. You watch the clock and dream about the weekend. Friday gets you excited. You likely pursue hobbies which satisfy your needs more so than your work.

What’s a career? Here you have high goals. You look for promotion and prestige. You seek a certain status.

What’s a calling? Your work is intrinsically fulfilling. you’re passionately following that which lights your fire. You do it because it is meaningful and you’re not doing it to achieve anything else. It’s born in your spirit and lived out in everything you do. It seems obvious to you that you’re contributing to the greater good. You frequently experience “flow” and sometimes don’t know what day or time it is. It doesn’t matter. Hey, you’ll continue to do it, maybe with low pay – or even without pay, if you suddenly become very wealthy.

What are you doing? What do you want to do?

Coaching can help you move forward in what you want to do.

And remember, a little help never hurts.

Often people talk about not knowing what they want to do.

“I’m unhappy in my job but I don’t know what else to do.”
“I make a lot of money but don’t feel satisified with what I do.”
“I don’t know what to major in because I don’t know what I want to be.”

The real problem with thinking this way is that the focus on what. Yet What we do is far less important than why we do it. What we do changes and evolves over time. Why we do what we do gets to the core of our beliefs and deeper purpose. Clarity of why helps bring clarity of what. Consistency in why helps bring consistency in what.

Why I do coaching (and even writing this right now!) is because I want more people to deeply understand their abilities, their desires, their dreams. I want more people to take note of what truly moves and inspires them. And then I want people to actually act, with intentionality, purpose, and clarity of why, in everything they do.

Get in touch with me at 229.444.1994 or ghatcher@eikonassociates and let’s explore the why!

"...That use of the word stuck, and coaches became known as people who help athletes move from one place to another.”

Coaching is NOT about a whistle and a cap! Coaching is NOT about somebody yelling at you and threatening you!

Coaching is about movement!

Gary Collins, a Christian psychologist who has in the last few years moved away from counseling into coaching, gives a helpful etymology of the word “coach” when he writes:

“In the 1500s the word coach described a horse-drawn vehicle that would get people from where they were to where they wanted to be. Many years later, in the 1880s, coach was given an athletic meaning, identifying the person who tutored university students in their rowing on the Cam River in Cambridge. That use of the word stuck, and coaches became known as people who help athletes move from one place to another.”

So give us a call! 229.444.1994

Coaching is about helping YOU move from where you are to where YOU want to be. We can talk about what coaching can do for you and your dreams at no initial cost to you.

Lots of people believe they have no need of a coach, but actually people who want to move forward and live in their unique “zone” could really benefit from coaching.

Coaching brings clarity in direction.

A lot of folks go through life simply muddling through, just getting by. Sometimes they get stuck in places, make mistakes, learn from them and move on. Bravo! And some folks are happy with their lives Just as it is.

And some folks aren’t.

Many people’s lives could be so much better if they had a little help. This help is available in the form of coaching.

Are you as fulfilled as you could be? Does your life work as well as you want? How about your job – is that where you want it to be? Do you have hard decisions to make, but just can’t seem to “pull the trigger?” A coach can help you with all of these and much more.

Coaching is not about fixing the past but about moving into a preferred future.

The job of a coach is to partner with you to help you look at all the issues, concerns and decisions in your personal and professional life. And to help you take the steps that are right for you. The coach’s assistance is designed to help make the process simpler, more effective, more efficient, more focused and productive. Coaches want your life to work for you and they want you to live the best life you can. Most folks can’t even imagine how awesome and inspiring coaching can be for them.

Here are things you can experience when you do engage in coaching with a well-trained and highly credentialed coach.

Challenge and break through self-limiting beliefs that are keeping you from moving forward.

Learn to make decisions clearly and decisively based on your values and beliefs.

Overcome fear and experience the freedom.

Establish a routine that is based on good work-life balance.

Create very clear and compelling goals that you really want to reach.

Bust through procrastination to productivity.

Repair and build strong relationships.

Recover quickly and strongly from set-backs and disappointments.

Get unstuck from ruts and circular thinking.

Reinvent yourself after job, career or life status change.

Reach your goals.

These are just a few of the positive outcomes you can expect from coaching. Now is the time to take stock and see what goals you are not achieving.

Call me. Get in touch with us. Finding out about coaching is free.

Ever since American television actor Charlie Sheen hired a “sobriety coach” after a front-page story in November (reportedly to assist in steering him away from drug and alcohol use), professional coaching has once again been pulled into the media limelight.

The real story is not about Sheen’s wild lifestyle but that people all over the world, from Hollywood playboys to stay-at-home moms and corporate executives to church-planters to college students, are working with professional coaches. Circumstances may vary but people of every age and race have utilized coaching over the last decade.

People hire coaches for an array of reasons, but according to the new ICF Global Consumer Awareness Study, the most common reasons people hire coaches are to:

Improve work performance;

Expand career opportunities; and

Increase self-esteem.

Other reasons noted in the study were to improve business management strategies and manage work/life balance.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring or training.

Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles.

Remember, a little help never hurts.

Eikon Associates coaching philosophy is consistent with that of the International Coach Federation, as follows:

“The International Coach Federation adheres to a form of coaching that honours the client as the expert in his/her personal and/or professional life and believes that every client is creative, resourceful and whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach’s responsibility is to:

Discover, clarify and align with what the client wants to achieve

Encourage client self-discovery

Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies

Hold the client as responsible and accountable

You know more about your hopes, your dreams, and your vision than anyone else. Coaching is not therapy. Coaching starts from the point that you are creative, resourceful and whole. A co-active coach helps you clarify where you are and move forward.

There is confusion around what it means to be coached.

Coaching is not teaching.

A teacher is someone who imparts knowledge or skill to another person. Classically, teaching assumes that there is a body of knowledge about which the teacher is an expert and the student is a novice or at least less familiar. Teaching is limited to the area in which the teacher has knowledge. Experts pass on knowledge and skills through teaching.

As a coach, the goal is not to teach what you know, but to walk alongside the person being coached as he learns from himself, from the Holy Spirit and from life. Coaching assumes that everybody knows more about themselves than anybody else.

Coaching is about assisting a person in discovery rather than in teaching or training.

If you need some assistance in moving forward in your life, dreams and calling, give me a call.

And remember, a little help never hurts.

While a mentor draws from his experiences, a coach compels the person being coached to drill down into their own knowledge, wisdom and dreams.

When it comes to coaching there is some confusion.

Often we hear the word “coach” used in a generic sense describing anyone who helps someone else – particularly in decision-making. One could almost use the words interchangeably with friend, mentor. teacher or consultant.

Of course some people gravitate toward the idea of an athletic coach, so when I tell them I’m a coach, they often ask, “What sport?” And I sometimes reply, “The sport if living.” (But that usually needs more explanation.)

But let me say, coaching is not mentoring.

A mentor is someone who has expertise and experience that they pass along to someone else who is following a similar path of life. Mentoring is a powerful and natural relationship, but is distinctly different from coaching. As a mentor, one passes on accrued wisdom to help someone else grow in and find success in similar ways.

In contrast, as a coach, one unlocks the wisdom in another person so that they find their own path for success. This means that the people being coached can grow and find success in ways the coach has never known or experienced. The limits of the person being coach are not bounded by the coach’s experience or knowledge.

While a mentor draws from his experiences, a coach compels the person being coached to drill down into their own knowledge, wisdom and dreams.

Coaching brings a discovery system rather than a delivery system.

If you feel you need a coach, give me a call.

Remember, a little help never hurts.
