There is confusion around what it means to be coached.
Coaching is not teaching.
A teacher is someone who imparts knowledge or skill to another person. Classically, teaching assumes that there is a body of knowledge about which the teacher is an expert and the student is a novice or at least less familiar. Teaching is limited to the area in which the teacher has knowledge. Experts pass on knowledge and skills through teaching.
As a coach, the goal is not to teach what you know, but to walk alongside the person being coached as he learns from himself, from the Holy Spirit and from life. Coaching assumes that everybody knows more about themselves than anybody else.
Coaching is about assisting a person in discovery rather than in teaching or training.
